Announcing the Inaugural Makerere at 100 Twitter Space.
Makerere University is excited to announce the inaugural Makerere at 100 Twitter Space scheduled for Wednesday 14th of June, 2022. The Space will discuss and reflect on Makerere’s past century and deliberate on the way forward for its next 100 years.
The conversation will be moderated by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Nawangwe Barnabas and will be joined by a panel that will include Democratic Party’s President General, Hon. Norbert Mao, Chairperson of the Makerere Endowment Fund, Dr. Maggie Kigozi, and Makerere University’s 80th Guild President, Mr. Bwowe Ivan.
This engagement comes as part of a series of events meant to commemorate Makerere’s 100 years and will be hosted on the University’s official twitter handle, ‘@Makerere’ which boasts of an audience of nearly a quarter-million followers.
The yearlong Centenary celebrations are running under the theme “Leveraging 100 years of Excellence in Building a Transformed Society” and this online discussion is expected to, inter alia, engage the public on Makerere’s rich history, celebrated alumni and stakeholders, and its contribution towards higher education in Uganda and globally.
Starting at 7 pm, the Twitter space will last for one and a half hours starting with a brief report on the centenary celebration activities.
Introductory questions from the panelists will follow and the discussion will then proceed for 45 minutes. Later, there will be 15 minutes for questions from the general public. Response to these questions by the discussants and final remarks will be done in the last 30 minutes.
